Flatbed Shipping

Truckin’ with the Buffalo

How it started;
how it’s growing.

IRF Transport, LLC., was started as a hotshot trucking business in 2020 by Travis Mercer, after spending 11 years in the U.S. Marine Corps as a heavy lift transport helicopter pilot.

Once he finished active duty, Travis wanted more time with his family and more control over his time.

He enjoyed the logistical planning and pace of hauling military cargo, so Travis committed the same love and work ethic to the flatbed transportation industry.

Owner/operator Travis Mercer spent 11 years in the U.S. Marine Corps as a heavy lift transport helicopter pilot.

In fact, his call sign in the Marine Corps was Buffalo, which seemed fitting since buffalo have long been known as tough, reliable and steadfast pack animals for many cultures around the world.

In 2021, IRF Transport upgraded from a hotshot truck and trailer to its first flatbed tractor-trailer rig. A year later, it added an additional truck and trailer.

Travis owns and operates the flatbed shipping company with his wife, Stephanie, who handles office responsibilities. Travis and Stephanie look forward to building a company that not only values the customer but also each team member.
